Because It Is My Blood by Gabrielle Zevin (Birthright #2)
Expected Publication: September 18, 2012
Read my review to Birthright #1: All These Things I've Done.
Goodreads Summary to Because It Is My Blood (May Contain Spoilers to First Book)
Since her release from Liberty Children's Facility, Anya Balanchine is determined to follow the straight and narrow. Unfortunately, her criminal record is making it hard for her to do that. No high school wants her with a gun possession charge on her rap sheet. Plus, all the people in her life have moved on: Natty has skipped two grades at Holy Trinity, Scarlet and Gable seem closer than ever, and even Win is in a new relationship. But when old friends return demanding that certain debts be paid, Anya is thrown right back into the criminal world that she had been determined to escape. It’s a journey that will take her across the ocean and straight into the heart of the birthplace of chocolate where her resolve--and her heart--will be tested as never beforeWhy I'm waiting:
I have no extreme reasons for this one. I just want more Win and Anya and more of the world building to this one. I really liked how it's set in the future, but it's more realistic than other dystopians.
I liked All These Things I've Done. I thought the first book had such great potential. The ending was just hair-pulling because it left things a little rocky.
I'm not sure how I feel with this whole mid-series cover change thing because honestly, I hate when that happens because then my books don't match. However, I didn't care much for the cover to All These Things I've Done. It's really plain and has no personality while this Books 2 is just stunning. I'm guessing that's Anya on the cover, which makes me wonder since I know she doesn't really look like that. I guess it's supposed to represent her change and growth from the first book, but I'm not certain.
What are you waiting on?
I almost ordered the first book in the series this February when there was the 10 percent off thing on tbd, but then decided that I should wait until the series is finished so I don't have to wait for sequels. *g*
