Touch of Death by Kelly Hashway (Touch of Death#1)
Expected Publication: January 15, 2013

Jodi Marshall isn’t sure how she went from normal teenager to walking disaster. One minute she’s in her junior year of high school, spending time with her amazing boyfriend and her best friend. The next she’s being stalked by some guy no one seems to know.

After the stranger, Alex, reveals himself, Jodi learns he’s not a normal teenager and neither is she. With a kiss that kills and a touch that brings the dead back to life, Jodi discovers she’s part of a branch of necromancers born under the 13th sign of the zodiac, Ophiuchus. A branch of necromancers that are descendents of Medusa. A branch of necromancers with poisoned blood writhing in their veins.

Jodi’s deadly to the living and even more deadly to the deceased. She has to leave her old, normal life behind before she hurts the people she loves. As if that isn’t difficult enough, Jodi discovers she’s the chosen one who has to save the rest of her kind from perishing at the hands of Hades. If she can’t figure out how to control her power, history will repeat itself, and her race will become extinct.

Character Interview with Jodi Marshall

Hi Jodi! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. I just want to ask you a few questions so my readers know just how truly awesome I think you are! Ok, let's get started.

Describe yourself in 5 words.
Gorgon, Chosen (sometimes I really hate that one), Ophi, emotional, and I can't decide between powerful or poisonous—it depends if I'm around humans or Ophi.

You and your mom get along fairly well and you two are really close. What's your favorite childhood memory with her?
Being home schooled for most of my life, I didn't get invited to a lot of sleepovers or birthday parties. I remember one time when the girl across the street had a sleepover. I thought she'd invite me since we were neighbors, but she didn't. I was so upset. But Mom bought me a pint cookie dough ice cream and a big container of rainbow sprinkles. I ate all of it. Every single bite. Then we did each other's nails, watched movies, and stayed up all night talking. I know everyone judges Mom for having me when she was 16, but I don't care what they say. She's the best mom and friend a girl can have.
  -You're mom is totally awesome!

What's the best part about your newly developed powers?
I can bring back people who shouldn't have died, and I can save other Ophi from Hades... I hope. Oh, and of course there's Alex. ;)
   - Anything Alex is best ;)

Alex is a great guy overall, is there anything about him that surprised you?
He seemed so sure of himself at first, but it broke my heart when I found out the real reason for his mac and cheese obsession. He doesn't like to show it, but he's very sensitive.
  - And dreamy right? *sighs*

If Alex made you eat mac n cheese for a whole week, would you do it?
Ugh, I still don't know how he eats that stuff. Seriously, there should be an age limit on the box. I'd have to talk him out of making me eat it.
  - Don't hate on the mac n cheese, Jodi! lol

Can you describe what your perfect date with Alex would be? Where would go and what would you two do?
Any date with Alex is awesome—as long as it doesn't involve raising the dead.
  - I agree. alexalexalex.

If you could have dinner with any greek mythology character, who would it be and why?
Not Hades! I'm not a big fan of Zeus, either. I'd love to be able to sit down with Medusa. I know I'm lucky that I can communicate with her when no other Ophi can, but still, I'd love to be able to see her in person instead of just in my mind.
  - I don't know, I'd kind like to have dinner with Hades.. he was pretty hot. lol ;)

With everything that you've went through, do you have any regrets?
Definitely. Matt's a huge one. I wish I could make things up to him, but I know that's impossible.
  - Aw :( I know Jodi! *hugs*

This or that:
Winter or Summer? Winter (as long as I have Alex's long-sleeved shirt to curl up in)

Day or Night? Day

Pepsi or Coke? Pepsi

Skittles or M&Ms? M&Ms

Beach or forest? Beach

And that's it! Again, thanks so much Jodi for answering my questions for this interview. You rock! Say hi to Alex for me ;)

And thanks to Kelly Hashway for allowing me to chat with Jodi! It has been amazing <3

So yep, I hope you guys liked my interview with Jodi! And don't forget to check out Touch of Death when it comes out! You don't want to miss this incredible book!

REVIEW: The Ballad of Aramei by J.A. Redmerski

Title: The Ballad of Aramei (The Darkwoods Trilogy #3)
Author: J.A. Redmerski - Website || Twitter || Facebook
Publication Date: November 18, 2012
Format: eARC*
Rating: 5/5

Everything about Adria Dawson’s life has changed in unimaginable ways: the shattering betrayal of her mother, the fight for her life and sanity…the loss of her humanity. But now Adria must face the ultimate challenge and risk not only her life, but the lives of everyone she loves at the wrathful hands of Isaac Mayfair’s father.

Determined to help unravel a mysterious message deeply rooted in an unhinged mind, Adria becomes obsessed with traveling into Aramei’s turbulent past to see the truth of how the relationships and betrayals between the Mayfair and Vargas bloodlines were formed.

Meanwhile, Adria and the Mayfairs are doing everything they can to smoke out and trap the Praverian traitor. A trip to Providence uncovers not only an old family line who are enemies of the Praverians, but also raises questions about the Praverian’s true agenda.

But the traitor will be caught. People will die. And Adria’s destiny to be the cause of a war will come to pass. But what could a kind and simple girl like Adria Dawson ever do that could be considered an act of war? The landscape of the werewolf world will be forever changed in the climactic conclusion to The Darkwoods Trilogy.

My thoughts, feelings, and reactions.
The Darkwoods Trilogy by J.A. Redmerski has been one epic series I have been loving more and more with each novel. The last book, The Ballad of Aramei is no exception. In this conclusion to the thrilling trilogy, the stakes are even higher for all the characters I have grown to love tremendously. Fast paced, dark and full of sacrifices, fans of this amazing trilogy will not be disappointed to be back in this world.

Continuing from the events of the previous book, The Ballad of Aramei starts off with Adria adjusting to being a new black beast. With the help of Isaac and the other werewolves in the Mayfair family, Adria starts to embrace being a werewolf; balancing that side of her with her human side. Adria continues to impress me with her strength and bravery as she really steps up to figure out what is going on around her. She really comes into her own and takes initiative. She doesn’t sit back, but she stands up, fights back and she makes it known that she can handle anything that is thrown her way. I love how Adria conquers her fears and doubts and has the courage to do something that needed to be done despite the consequences it will bring. She just knew it was the right thing to do and she did it. Adria is one amazing character and I cannot help but love her more and more.

While the romance was not the center of this book, it was still there in the background and I commend Redmerski for still making it a solid part of the book. I have always adored the relationship and connection between Adria and Isaac but also with Harry and Daisy. There were plenty of sweet moments that diffused the seriousness and imminent danger of the book. These were the parts that made me smile, giggle, and swoon to no extent.

Redmerski really took this last novel up another level and gave it her all. The writing is even more eloquent than before and the pacing moves nicely throughout the book. The action that she brought into this final novel is everything I have been waiting for and more. The epic war was what I have been dying to read and Redmerski did not disappoint. She brought it all with full force and greatness that totally swept me away. The twists and revelations were completely mind-boggling! When the real traitor was revealed, lets just say I so did not see that one coming and I swear even that character had me fooled!

Aspects that were brought up in the first two novels get fully explained and explored in The Ballad of Aramei. More of Aramei’s past is revealed and I really got the sense of the life she had before when she first met Viktor and Trajan. I loved this part in the book because I felt like I was really transported there just like Adria. More Praverian background is shed, along with more depth of what they do with their Charges and of course, Harvesters that hunt them. All of this was centered and connected around Adria and I thought Redmerski did a excellent job of weaving this into Adria’s life causing havoc, chaos, and danger. It was the perfect combination to make one heart-racing novel.

I’m a little sad to say goodbye to this world and all the characters in it, but I truly believe that the ending that Redmerski created for this beloved trilogy is a spectacular one. Redmerski gives the characters the hope, conclusion and resolution they all needed. Not everything is a happily ever after, but realistically fits the end that needed to be told. While this trilogy has ended, it will always be a part of me that I will continue to cherish for a lifetime.

Sarah O’Brien is alive because of the pact she and her brother made twelve years ago — James will protect her from their violent father if she promises to never leave him. For years, she’s watched James destroy his life to save hers. If all he asks for in return is her affection, she’ll give it freely.

Until, with a tiny kiss and a broken mind, he asks for more than she can give.

Sam Donavon has been James’ best friend — and the boy Sarah’s had a crush on — for as long as she can remember. As their forbidden relationship deepens, Sarah knows she’s in trouble. Quiet, serious Sam has decided he’s going to save her. Neither of them realize James is far more unstable than her father ever was, or that he’s not about to let Sarah forget her half of the pact . . .

My thoughts, feelings, and reactions.
Beautiful and devastating all wrapped in one heart shattering, soul moving book. Flawed broke me, crushed me whole and devoured my every being. Kate Avelynn created a book so powerful, so gut wrenching.. nothing will ever be the same

Sarah O’Brien was the strongest protagonist I have ever encountered in all my time of reading. She wasn’t strong physically, but with years of abuse she had to go through, Sarah endured. She was living a life she didn’t deserve at all, stuck in an impossible situation with difficult choices to make between the two people that she loved the most. It was all so hard on Sarah and I really felt that pain, the indecision and the stress she was holding on her shoulders. The juggling of protecting herself, her brother, and Sam just took a toll on Sarah and my heart damn near crumbled for her. In the toughest of times, Sarah held out and I truly looked up to the way she loved and cared for James and Sam. I loved Sarah for all that she was and all that she wasn’t and I especially loved her for the choices she made and the fact that she continued to dream, hope and live.

In so little words, I loved James. I ached for him entirely; that broken boy I wanted to fix from the inside out. As unstable and unpredictable as he was, I could not help but only see the goodness of his intentions and of his heart. He conflicted me, he shook me and made me love and hate him simultaneously. All his life has been devoted to protect and care for Sarah. Everything he had ever done was for Sarah and his unwavering love for her allowed darkness and madness to consume him. James only knew what he had to do to protect Sarah and all he wanted in return was love; love she could not give. And that possessive, all consuming love he had for her was what blew out the last of the bright flame my lovely golden boy had. How do you fix something so broken, so tainted by abuse, alcohol, drugs and fear that only darkness remained? There really is only one answer.. you can’t.

The romance of this book rooted and attached itself to me. I have never felt so intensely for the love that bloomed between Sarah and Sam. It was electric and it was paradise and it was dangerous in so many aspects. For me, the risk was worth it all. Sam opened Sarah’s eyes. His smart, independent, caring, and protective personality awakened Sarah and taught her the true meaning of unconditional love. He gave her happiness and what little freedom she could take. Sarah was his everything, his forever and I truly believed that from the bottom of my heart. This boy.. this great, spectacular, unlike-no-one-in-this-world kind of boy was the sweetest, brightest and selfless being I have ever had the privilege to fall in love with. If there is one true hero in this book, it was Sam Donavan. No questions asked.

I was unprepared for the amount of pain and hurt this book made me feel. I was unprepared for the amount and depth of love I had for every single letter, word, sentence, paragraph, page and chapter. I have never felt so much fear, hot and cold in my heart. I didn’t think I could have ever foreseen it coming at all. This book opened my eyes to the meaning of sacrifices, of choices, and complete devotion.

Flawed has easily worked its way to being one of the best books I have ever read. The wait was more than worth it and if I had to wait a million years for this book, I would happily do so. Kate Avelynn completely moved me to sobbing tears with her clean, exquisite, and top notch writing. What she created in Flawed was pure emotion, passion and dark tragedy that shattered my heart to tiny painful pieces. It’s the type of book that is too beautiful for words and one that will haunt your very core to oblivion.

Overall, Flawed was just perfect, flawless and incomparable

*#DarkDarlings forever <3 Thank you so much Kate.

They fall in with a group of beautiful, carefree teens and spend their days surfing, partying on the beach, and hiking into endless sunsets. But just as they’re starting to feel safe again, one of their new friends goes missing. Is it a coincidence? Or is the nightmare beginning all over again?

Why I'm waiting?
1. WANT. NEED. MUST HAVE.

3. Serial Killer.
Honestly?! I MEAN COME ON. Anything with serial killers in it are just awesome and scary and creepy. And he's freaking escaped! These type of people are real and I don't know about you, but I for one am addicted to shows that have a serial killer on the loose. It's going to be exciting!

4. Juniper Landing
Why does that place sound like it's not going to be the vacation that everyone thinks it is? It's always the places that look and sound like heaven where all bad stuff happen. And man, I'm so ready for the bad stuff. Bring. It. On!

5. Cover.
Gorgeous. Can I please pet it?

6. Again, I want it.

No one is like Daemon Black.

When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well... There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.

But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we’re stronger... and they know it.

Character Interview with Razor:
Ada: Hey, Jessirae! As promised, I’ve delivered Razor over for an interview. I hope you guys have fun! *turns to Razor* And behave. (Actually, knowing your “slight” infatuation with him, that should probably be aimed at both of you.) ;)

Hey Razor! I’m super duper thrilled to have you here on my blog. You don’t even know how much I adore you <3
- Hey, Jessirae. Thanks for having me!

- Hey, you’re shaking. Are you cold? Here…*takes off his leather jacket and wraps it around Jessirae’s shoulders*

*sigh* Just know you won't get this jacket back, Razor. *winks*

Anyway, I just want to ask you a few harmless questions.
- Harmless? Come on now, where’s the fun in that? *winks*

Describe yourself in one word.
- “Multilayered”—there are just way too many layers to this vampy Tootsy Pop.

Really? Maybe I can strip those layers.. wait, that didn't come out right.. ;)

Ok so, what’s the best thing about being a vampire?

- Our bodies are more resilient than that of humans, so it makes extreme sports pretty exciting. Other things involving the body tend to be more exciting as well, but Ada warned that I have to behave, so we’ll leave that to your imagination…

*fans self* *tries to think other thoughts* *imagination runs wild*

What was your first impression of Dawn?
-
My first impression of Dawn? *chuckles* Feisty. I’m pretty sure those were the first words out of my mouth upon meeting her. Yeah, sure, I can’t deny that I hadn’t immediately noticed the fact that she’s hot as hell, but the reason I was drawn to her had little to do with her looks and more to do with her personality. I tease her about her perseverance and constant need to save everyone and fix everything, but I really admire her strength and drive. She’s a very special girl.

If you could travel anywhere in world, where would you go and who would you take?
- When I was turned, my entire world revolved around living in the moment and not stopping to think about anything. Lately, I’d really been wanting to take a breather from all that and travel the world to some beautiful, remote places, far off the well-traversed path. I suppose I’d have to drag Sebastian along, but I’m assuming he’d bring Dawn, so it wouldn’t be so bad.

Craziest thing you’ve ever done?
- Craziest thing I’ve ever done? Fall in love.
And I’ve done some pretty crazy things in my life…

*smiles* You could maybe I don't know, *coughfallinlovewithmecough*

Lets talk misfits. Who is your favorite misfit and why?
- I like them all, but I’m kinda gunning for Brooke and Seth to stop torturing us and just get it on. I really need to give that guy some pointers. And, uhh, by “get it on”, I mean “finally admit they like each other”. See, Ada? I’m behaving.

I hear you! Those two just need to get together already!

What do you do in your spare time besides annoy Dawn to death?
- Annoying Dawn is a full-time job. One that I enjoy greatly. I don’t have one specific hobby, if that’s what you mean. I get bored easily, so I like to keep things interesting. Both my brother and I are into extreme sports, but he’s more a winter sports kind of guy, whereas I prefer heat and water. I also like to keep up on the latest medical advances, so I spend a lot of time reading. Reading is sexy. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

You read?! *sigh* Can you seriously get any more perfect?

Dawn and Sebastian. What do you think of their relationship?
- Those two need to be locked in a room for an entire week and have the key thrown away. As you know, I’ve already tried that once with the barn…

*chuckles* *nods head*

If Dawn wasn’t taken, would you go after her? I promise I won’t tell. ;)

- The only reason I’m not going after her is because of the person she is taken by. Any other guy and…well, it would be a very different story.

*crosses arms* *grumbles in jealousy* whispers softly- thank god Dawn's taken.

Moving on. So you’re smart, funny and very good looking. Is there anything you can’t do?
- You know me, I’ll try anything once. And if I really enjoy it, over and over again.

*swoons* What was that again? Over and over again? I like this. A lot.

I basically worship the ground you walk on... sort of. So…you and me, what do you think? lol ;)

- A few months ago I would have invited you over to my place to play doctor. [Ada edited out the next part because it was way too descriptive—sorry for the block, Jessirae!] But ever since I arrived in Angel Creek, things haven’t been the same. I don’t know what it is…I’m no longer interested in being with just any girl, you know? Not that you’re “any girl”, J. You’re a very lovely girl—one that deserves a guy who worships the ground that you walk on.

You're right. I'm not just any girl and someday I'm going to win you over. *grins mischievously*

This or that:

Day or Night? - Night. You can get away with a lot more…

Summer or Winter? - Summer. Lack of clothing suits me.

mutters- Hah, just the way I like you.

The forest or the beach? - The beach. See above. *winks*

A night inside or a day outdoors? - I guess it depends on what I’m doing. Both can be a lot of fun in their own ways. I’ll leave you to infer whatever you wish from that.

Ah, yes. We could.. never mind.

Boxers or Briefs? - A gentleman never tells. Though I do have a question for those gentlemen: “Why bother with either?”
That’s it! Thanks oh so much for answering my questions Razor! I hope I didn’t come on too strong ;)
- You’re very welcome. Don’t worry about it—I like a girl who speaks her mind.

*blushes*

Thanks so much Ada for allowing me to chat with Razor. It has been pleasurable! ;)
Now guys and gals, I've already staked my claim and it's been established forever ago that Raze. Razor, my love, is in fact.. mine. So back the bleep up. *laughs*

Joining forces with Razor, an enigmatic rebel lacking both a verbal and a physical filter, and her band of Misfits—Brooke, Sophie, Hunter, and Seth—Dawn is thrust into a race against the clock to solve the mystery surrounding brutal Born kidnappings and come to terms with the sudden discovery of her own unique powers. With time ticking away and Born vampires’ lives in jeopardy, it quickly becomes evident that someone—or something—desperately wants Dawn and is willing to shed any amount of blood to get her.

Dawn has only one chance to face her demons and overcome all obstacles standing in her way as she embarks on the biggest mission of her life—one that threatens a deadly outcome for all involved.

My Review.
ReAwakened begins two weeks after the ending of ReVamped and the stakes are even higher than before. We’re back with our beloved heroine, Dawn, along with all the misfits. There’s also a good helping of Sebastian and a bunch of new characters that will either make you swoon or make you want to pull your hair out. Ada Adams really brings ReAwakened to a whole other level with more romance, action, and surprises you’ll just never expect! Angel Creek fans are in for a roller coaster ride that will have your heart racing!

ReAwakened Blog Tour!
Dawn is still that strong, courageous and brave girl I absolutely loved in the first book. In ReAwakened, we definitely see another side of her. A side that is vulnerable and shows weaknesses that make her real and graspable. She grows for the better because even though Dawn is strong in nearly every way, she's not fearless. In ReAwakened, Dawn really tries to hold herself together after everything that has happen and she doesn’t fall a part. Dawn puts her life on the line and sacrifices herself in many situations that anger me, but also made me admire her ten fold. The sheer amount of love she had for her friends is inspiring and goes to show how truly amazing she is. Dawn has always been a good person in and out and she shines here in ReAwakened. This time around Dawn really faces her grief, the truth, and all fears that have been plaguing her for so long.

The new characters in ReAwakened are a wonderful addition to the series. There are some characters I absolutely loved from the very start and there are some characters I hated with no hesitation. While others grew on me the more I read. Adams does incredible job of placing these characters and having them rock the stability in the story. These characters not only surprised me, but also shocked me beyond belief. There’s even old characters that come back that I never even imagined would create such chaos. Ada Adams also gives more background story with some of the misfits that made me connect with them more.

Ada Adams continued to impress me with her fabulous writing. I was engrossed and completely taken over by the whole story. It was balanced and it had a perfect story arc complete with a building climax and a resolution with a shocking ending that begged for more. The pacing of the book was just amazing! Each chapter had more build up from the previous one until I hit the explosive revelation. Ada added a lot of elements into ReAwakened that worked well with the story and had me guessing all the time. I never quite knew what going to happen next. Every chapter was unexpected and had my anticipation building. The best part of ReAwakened is Ada’s ability to evoke all kinds of emotions from happiness, to anger, to swooning, to nervousness, to sadness and heartbreak. Whatever emotion you could feel, it’s felt while reading this book and how Ada can do this is just sheer brilliance and true talent.

Overall, ReAwakened was even better than its predecessor. Any expectations I could have anticipated were blown away. Saying that I enjoyed it is an immense understatement! ReAwakened had a great amount of romance, angst, action, humor, and sadness anyone could hope for. Fans of the Angel Creek series will not be disappointed and be left in complete and utter speechlessness.

Dylan doesn’t do relationships. He and his older brother watched their dad go through hell and back, so they made a pact years ago—no girl would come between the Gibson boys. But his brother sells out. He's getting married anyway. To the sister of a chick Dylan met at a party, who's probably the angriest girl he's ever met. Unfortunately, she happens to be hot, too.

Ziah’s life is upside down—her safe boyfriend turns out to be not-so-safe, and now her sister is getting married before college is over to the older brother of a spoiled, party boy who drives her crazy. And also makes her heart beat too fast.

There’s no denying the attraction, but there's also no denying how much they irritate each other. When they’re thrown together as forced wedding planners, they find an ally in each other--neither wants this wedding to happen.

But instead of putting a stop to the crazy nuptials they find themselves at fittings and cake testing. And maybe even…a few dates?
Dizzy is a novel about what happens when two people who are determined not to fall in love, maybe do anyway. Maybe.

My thoughts, feelings, and reactions.
I love a good romance with a swoony couple that makes me melt and the drama that comes with it. Dizzy by Nyrae Dawn and Jolene Perry had this down perfectly. They wrote one cute and lovable book that will surely touch the hearts of many.

We start off with two marvelous characters, Dylan and Ziah, who are brought together through the upcoming marriage of their siblings. Dylan and Ziah don’t have much in common and come from opposite worlds, but these two come together under unpleasant circumstances and without knowing how, these two fall for each other.

Dylan was a unique character whom I loved from the very start. From the outside, he looked like a rich, spoiled and arrogant guy. Hidden underneath those rough edges is a sweet, down to earth, funny and overall great guy. He was super hilarious and he made me smile and laugh out loud every chance he got. Dylan had trust issues when it came to women so he couldn't commit to one girl, but Dylan never led any girl on. He made sure they knew exactly what he wanted. I love how Dylan still found it in him to support his brother, even when he didn’t agree in the beginning. I understood Dylan and I completely connected with him and felt all the pain and betrayal he felt. I found Dylan to be one amazing guy even with all the issues he had with his parents and his brother’s wedding. Dylan was the type of guy you want to keep and never ever want to let go.

Ziah was character that made this book whole. Smart and intimidating with a powerful voice, Ziah was truly one force to be reckoned with. This girl can dish it out and she can stand on her own. She was a strong girl and she valued love and family as important things. What I loved about Ziah was her ability to forgive and embrace things and the people who did her wrong. Ziah may look tough on the outside, but she definitely had a fun and loving side I loved as well. I loved how she was relatable, reachable and believable as a character.

Nyrae Dawn and Jolene Perry’s writing was absolutely stunning. The writing is clean and well blended. They did a great job of developing the characters to point where I got to know them and feel what they were going through. Dylan and Ziah were set a part from each other and had unique voices that I knew exactly whose head I was in without looking. The drama and obstacles the characters had to face were real and true to the story as well. The overall pacing of the story was perfect where Dylan and Ziah’s relationship grew stronger each chapter. The romance was beautifully written, making my heart ache and swell and race at the same time. It was so easy to invest and wrap myself around the romance, it’s no wonder why I fell head over heels in love with this book. Best of all, Nyrae Dawn and Jolene Perry made sure to add in the snarky, clever, and humorous moments for a fun, fast, and easy read.

Dizzy is a must-have, must-read book for any contemporary, romance and book lovers out there!
