Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine where you share an upcoming release that you're anticipating on reading.

This is the UK cover (not sure about the US one?)

Eternal Dawn by  Rebecca Maizel (Vampire Queen #3)
Expected Publication Date: July 3, 2014 (Macmillan)

Book Description:
Lenah has sacrificed everything -- including the love of her soulmate Rhode -- to save Rhode and the world from a vampire plague. But when the only good vampire left is murdered, she knows she must avenge his death. The problem is that the murderer is her former boyfriend, Justin, who has not only become a vampire himself, but one of the most evil she has ever encountered. Lenah knows she will have to kill him in order to save her twenty-first-century friends, but can she do it? The answer is clearer when she discovers that Justin's taken her beloved Rhode hostage and is slowly turning him into a vampire too. But Rhode no longer remembers Lenah, and killing anyone is now against her nature. Will the heartbreak of seeing Rhode corrupted lead her to take a path from which she may never be able to return?

Why am I waiting?

1. Because Rebecca Maizel totally left me hanging in Stolen Nights. She freaking shattered me!

2. Rhode. I love love love Rhode. I was basically obsessed with him when I basically plowed through both Infinite Days and Stolen Nights. He was is definitely one of my favorite book boyfriends.

3. Lenah.. yeah sometimes she could be a big pain in the ass, but she was a bad ass, vicious vampire and I really want to find out what the heck she is going to do next.

4. I need this book. I just need it. NOW.

I haven't done one of these in foreverrrrrrr
so here goes....

The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski
Release date: March 4, 2014
Published by Farrar Straus Giroux

Why is Jessirae waiting for this book?

A) That gorgeous cover - how can I resist that unique, pretty, I want to press my face against that cover - cover? I know I shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but hot damn look at it! I was drawn to the cover which made me want to read the summary, and BOOM, I WANT IT YO.

B) I fell in love with Rutkoski's writing when I read (and reviewed) The Shadow Society. I was so impressed by her writing style and her ability to build a world so clearly and intricately. I know these are two different books, but when I like one book from an author, the chances of liking another becomes very high.

C) And of course the mention of war, secret love, and deadly games, holy rolie polie olie, I'm so freaking solddddddddd. Fantasy books are totally growing on me!

Are you waiting on this book too?

The Promise of Amazing by Robin Constantine
Expected Publication Date: December 13, 2013

Wren Caswell is average. Ranked in the middle of her class at Sacred Heart, she’s not popular, but not a social misfit. Wren is the quiet, “good” girl who's always done what she's supposed to—only now in her junior year, this passive strategy is backfiring. She wants to change, but doesn’t know how.

Grayson Barrett was the king of St. Gabe’s. Star of the lacrosse team, top of his class, on a fast track to a brilliant future—until he was expelled for being a “term paper pimp.” Now Gray is in a downward spiral and needs to change, but doesn’t know how.

One fateful night their paths cross when Wren, working at her family’s Arthurian-themed catering hall, performs the Heimlich on Gray as he chokes on a cocktail weenie, saving his life literally and figuratively. What follows is the complicated, awkward, hilarious, and tender tale of two teens shedding their pasts, figuring out who they are—and falling in love.

Sounds super cute!!! I can't wait to get my hands on it!

Publication Date: August 20, 2013
Music journalist Tru Bennett has done the impossible: capture the heart of rock-star bad boy Jake Wethers. Now they’re busy planning a wedding and navigating their new life together in the US. Of course Tru misses London and her best friend, Simone, but living happily ever after with Jake in LA is going to be great…right?

Wrong. Even the bright California sun can’t whitewash the dark side of celebrity coupledom. Greedy music execs, merciless paparazzi, and Jake’s wild past are lurking around every corner. Making matters worse, Jake announces he doesn’t want kids, which just may be a deal breaker.

Tru loves Jake more than anything. But when a devastating crisis threatens to destroy everything they’ve fought for, the couple must face the hard truth: What if, this time, love is not enough?

Why am I waiting?
One person and that's JakefuckableWethers! I fell head over heels in love with him in The Mighty Storm and I could not get enough of him! I loved him and his romance with Tru so freaking much, I put off finishing the first book for as long as I could before caving. And the steamy scenes in the first book have me itching and hoping for more in the second book! I just need this book oh so badly. *grabby hands*

More Jake like this pleeeeeease.
“You ask what I want from you?” His eyes move to my lips, then my eyes. “I want you, Tru. I just want you. All day, every day.”

Untold by Sarah Rees Brennan (The Lyburn Legacy #2)
Expected Publication Date: September 24, 2013
(ohmygodkillmenow)
Free from bonds, but not each other

It’s time to choose sides… On the surface, Sorry-in-the-Vale is a sleepy English town. But Kami Glass knows the truth. Sorry-in-the-Vale is full of magic. In the old days, the Lynburn family ruled with fear, terrifying the people into submission in order to kill for blood and power. Now the Lynburns are back, and Rob Lynburn is gathering sorcerers so that the town can return to the old ways.

But Rob and his followers aren’t the only sorcerers in town. A decision must be made: pay the blood sacrifice, or fight. For Kami, this means more than just choosing between good and evil. With her link to Jared Lynburn severed, she’s now free to love anyone she chooses. But who should that be?

Why I am waiting in silent agony?
Have you heard of death by book #1 ending? Well, I've been experience this "death" ever since I finished Unspoken and had the fortunate misfortune to read such a deargodpullmyheartoutnow type of ending. Seriously. Oh, so I'm saying that book was killing me softy? HELL NO. It was killing me very loudly and hard and a fast and painfully so. (God, why did that whole sentence sound derogatory?)

Damn, Sarah Rees Brennan. Damn. I bow down to you and your great tortuous writing ways and your ability to stomp on my heart, shatter it, burn it, put it back together then shoot it dead. *whimpers*

Anyway, back to point. Why in the name of all things Jared Lynburn am I waiting? I just mentioned it. JaredpleasebemineLynburn. Yep, I love the boy so much I shall marry him and have his 3.2 kids, but the boy is a massive idiot. And Kami. OhmyKAMI. I miss her wit and snark and detective journalistic ways. And I miss lines like this:
“Hark,” he said, his tone very dry. “What stone through yonder window breaks?”
Kami yelled up at him, “It is the east, and Juliet is a jerk!”
Jared abandoned Shakespeare and demanded, “What do you think you’re doing?”
“Throwing a pebble,” said Kami defensively. “Uh… and I’ll pay for the window.”
Jared vanished and Kami was ready to start shouting again, when he reemerged with the pebble clenched in his fist. “This isn’t a pebble! This is a rock.”
“It’s possible that your behaviour has inspired some negative feelings that caused me to pick a slightly overlarge pebble,” Kami admitted.”
And all the teasers that have been coming out, yeah... By the time Untold comes out, I'll most likely be inconsolable. I've never been so passionately desperate about a book in my entire life and I don't know whether to thank Brennan or possibly kidnap her and tell her to hand Jared over as ransom. Wait, did that make any sense? sweetheaven, somebody put me out of my misery.

In other news, what are you waiting on?

Anaya never breaks the rules, but the night of the fire she recognized part of Cash’s soul—and doomed him to something worse than death. Cash’s soul now resides in an expired body, making him a shadow walker—a rare, coveted being that can walk between worlds. A being creatures of the underworld would do anything to get their hands on.

The lines between life and death are blurring, and Anaya and Cash find themselves falling helplessly over the edge. Trapped in a world where the living don’t belong, can Cash make it out alive?
Why I'm waiting?
I loved Inbetween, the first book in this series, and I am really excited for the story to continue. When Finn and Emma's story came to a close, I wasn't ready to let go of them and the world that Finn brought. I'm even more excited that it will star two characters I absolutely adored in the first book. This time, we'll get a chance to be in their heads and I'm itching to see an HEA between Cash and Anaya. Especially for Cash. He is just sexy and wonderful. Plus, I love Tara's writing and her ability to create a heart capturing story!

The Truth about You and Me by Amanda Grace
Expected Release Date: September 8, 2013
Smart girls aren't supposed to do stupid things.

Madelyn Hawkins is super smart. At sixteen, she's so gifted that she can attend college through a special program at her high school. On her first day, she meets Bennet. He's cute, funny, and kind. He understands Madelyn and what she's endured—and missed out on—in order to excel academically and please her parents. Now, for the first time in her life, she's falling in love.

There's only one problem. Bennet is Madelyn's college professor, and he thinks she's eighteen—because she hasn't told him the truth.

The story of their forbidden romance is told in letters that Madelyn writes to Bennet—both a heart-searing ode to their ill-fated love and an apology.
Why am I waiting?

I haven't even heard of this book until someone tweeted it about and now I wish I remembered who so I can thank them because I ended up looking this one up! When I saw the cover, I was even more intrigued and then the summary! Holy shizballs, teacher and student fall for each other but she's underaged! This is a recipe for all kinds of drama, heartache and complete disaster and I want to be all over this! Plus it's written in letter form and it has been ages since I've read a book like that. NEEEED!

Doll Bones by Holly Black
Expected Release Date: May 7, 2013
Zach, Poppy and Alice have been friends for ever. They love playing with their action figure toys, imagining a magical world of adventure and heroism. But disaster strikes when, without warning, Zach’s father throws out all his toys, declaring he’s too old for them. Zach is furious, confused and embarrassed, deciding that the only way to cope is to stop playing . . . and stop being friends with Poppy and Alice. But one night the girls pay Zach a visit, and tell him about a series of mysterious occurrences. Poppy swears that she is now being haunted by a china doll – who claims that it is made from the ground-up bones of a murdered girl. They must return the doll to where the girl lived, and bury it. Otherwise the three children will be cursed for eternity . . .

Why am I waiting on this creepy ass book?

I don't usually read middle grade books. I don't know why, they aren't my thing. I've maybe read a handful. Nothing personal. But Doll Bones caught my eye. First of all, being haunted by a doll? That's like, the scariest shit ever, seriously. I hate hate hate movies with haunted dolls or haunted houses where children ghosts are running around. Just talking about it makes me want to run the other way. Why on earth do I want to read something that is sure to freak me out? Because I'm a sucker for these types of things. I like the creepy, freaky, scary stuff. It's my thing. I live for it even though it'll make me paranoid for a week or two. And to be quite honest, I have never read a book by Holly Black. For shame, right? So this.. THIS book, I want it, scary haunted china dolls and all!

What would I give up to have this book in my hands?
Possibly my soul. Or my first born. My Arizona Green Tea addiction?

Haven't done one of these in ages and I think it's time I come back and do them again!

I'm very impatiently waiting on..

Second Chance Boyfriend by Monica Murphy
Expected Publication Date: April 9, 2013
Lost. That one single word best describes my life at this very moment. I lost the last games of the season and both my team and my coach blame me. I lost the last two months because I drowned in my own despair like a complete loser. And I lost the only girl who ever mattered because I was afraid being with me would destroy her.

But now I realize how truly lost I am without her. She has become my story…and even though she acts like she’s moved on, I know she still thinks about me just as much as I think about her. She’s beautiful, sweet—and so damn vulnerable, all I want to do is help her. Be there for her.

Love her…

If only I could convince Fable to give me a second chance. Then I wouldn’t feel so lost anymore, and neither would she. We could be found together.

Forever.

Why April needs to hurry it up..

1. One Week Girlfriend's OMG *flails* ending..
The ending to the first book made me want to cry and pull my hair out because everything was sooo perfect and then.. BOOM. *furiously turns page* no more pages appear... *dies* Hence, I need Second Chance Boyfriend, like, years ago.

2. More Fable
Loved this girl. She's perfect for Drew (although I think I'm much more suitable, we're not talking about me) and when she's around him they just BLAZE.. I want to get to know her more, please.

3. Drew, my love, my life, my eternal soul.
GIVE ME DREW OR GIVE ME WAR! For seriously. This boy is triple X sexxxy. His lines and his touch and his voice in my head... I can't and will never get enough of him. I need him more than I need Arizona Green Tea.

4. Bringing sexy back
Bring on more of the backseat and rainfall make out sessions. Scenes where Fable wraps her legs around Drew, where Drew is inside of Fable... basically, I want my Drew + Fable sexy times. A girl cannot survive on rereading these certain scenes alone ;)

5. Adele
I've encountered many bitches in my lifetime and this specific one is goin' down! She's the bitch that needs to get cut, kicked, and put in her place. *mumbles grumbles curses*

To cut things short..
I'd give my goddamned trachea, right ventricle, and half of my pancreas
to get my hands on Second Chance Boyfriend.
How about you?

Impostor by Jill Hathaway (Slide #2)
Expected Publication: March 26, 2013

What if a killer took control of you?

Vee Bell’s gift (or curse) of “sliding”—slipping into the mind of another person and experiencing life, briefly, through his or her eyes—has been somewhat under control since she unwillingly witnessed the horrific deaths of her classmates six months ago.

But just as things are getting back to normal, Vee has a very bizarre experience: she loses consciousness and finds herself in a deserted area, at the edge of a cliff, with the broken body of the boy who took advantage of her on the rocks below.

As Vee finds herself in stranger and stranger situations with no memory of getting there, she begins to suspect that someone she knows has the ability to slide—and that this “slider” is using Vee to exact revenge on his or her enemies.

Why I'm waiting?
1. Slide

The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
Expected Publication Date: December 18, 2012

When Ruby woke up on her tenth birthday, something about her had changed. Something frightening enough to make her parents lock her in the garage and call the police. Something that gets her sent to Thurmond, a brutal government “rehabilitation camp.” She might have survived the mysterious disease that’s killed most of America’s children, but she and the others have been cursed with something far worse: frightening abilities they cannot control.

Now sixteen, Ruby has spent nearly half her life desperately trying to hide the fact that she’s outwitted the camp’s sorting system—that she isn’t powerless, or safe. She’s one of the dangerous ones… and everyone knows what happens to them.

When the truth comes out, Ruby barely escapes Thurmond with her life. Now she’s on the run, desperate to find the one safe haven left for kids like her—East River. She joins a group of teens who escaped their own camp, pursued along the way by terrifying bounty hunters. Liam, their brave leader, is falling hard for Ruby. But no matter how much she aches for him, Ruby can’t risk getting close to him. Not after what happened to her parents.

When they arrive at East River, nothing is as it seems, least of all its mysterious leader. But there are other forces at work, people who will stop at nothing to use Ruby in their fight against the government. Before the end, Ruby will be faced with a terrible choice, one that may mean giving up her only chance at a life worth living.

Why I'm waiting?
I really want to know all about this "change" that Ruby goes through and this disease that kill the children. I also want more insight on these abilities! To top it all off, I hope to find out how exactly Ruby outwits the camp and how she eventually escapes Thurmond. The Darkest Minds sounds like an adventure I'm just dying to get sucked into. And I can't deny that I'm itching to read all about the romance with Liam and Ruby <33

Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi
Expected Publication Date: January 8, 2013
It's been months since Aria last saw Perry. Months since Perry was named Blood Lord of the Tides, and Aria was charged with an impossible mission. Now, finally, they are about to be reunited. But their reunion is far from perfect. The Tides don't take kindly to Aria, a former Dweller. And with the worsening Aether storms threatening the tribe's precarious existence, Aria begins to fear that leaving Perry behind might be the only way to save them both.

Threatened by false friends, hidden enemies, and powerful temptations, Aria and Perry wonder, Can their love survive through the ever night?

In this second book in her spellbinding Under the Never Sky trilogy, Veronica Rossi combines fantasy and dystopian elements to create a captivating love story as perilous as it is unforgettable.

Why I'm Waiting?

1. Under the Never Sky.
Yeah, that first book? BLEW MY MIND. I effing loved it so much that these past few months have been complete and utter torture and it still is. I am dying dying and slowly dying until Through the Ever Night releases. If you have not read UTNS, what the F-- is wrong with you?! Get on that shit and read! No regrets, I tell you. No. freaking. regrets.

2. THAT ENDING. (From UTNS)
YEAH. WTF RIGHT!? I NEED MORE. All I have to say there.

3. Perry.
Oh, Perry. I love you. You and Aria are so good together, you better stay together. None of this "can their love survive" stuff because YOUR LOVE BETTER SURVIVE DAMN IT OR I WILL JUST DIE. Perry, you are so sexy, I cannot even comprehend.

Waiting on Wednesday #29

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine where you share an upcoming release that you're anticipating on reading.

Uses for Boys by Erica Lorraine Scheidt
Expected Publication: January 15, 2013
From an extraordinary new YA talent comes a debut novel about a girl who turns to boys—until she finally learns to lean on herself.

Anna remembers a time before boys, when she was little and everything made sense. When she and her mom were a family, just the two of them against the world. But now her mom is gone most of the time, chasing the next marriage, bringing home the next stepfather. Anna is left on her own—until she discovers that she can make boys her family. From Desmond to Joey, Todd to Sam, Anna learns that if you give boys what they want, you can get what you need. But the price is high—the other kids make fun of her; the girls call her a slut. Anna's new friend, Toy, seems to have found a way around the loneliness, but Toy has her own secrets that even Anna can't know.
Then comes Sam. When Anna actually meets a boy who is more than just useful, whose family eats dinner together, laughs, and tells stories, the truth about love becomes clear. And she finally learns how it feels to have something to lose—and something to offer. Real, shocking, uplifting, and stunningly lyrical, Uses for Boys is a story of breaking down and growing up.

Why I'm Waiting?

1. Cover
It rocks my world and more. It's simple, yet sexy and sweet and it just makes me want to grab the book and just devour it whole.

2. Premise
It's nothing I've ever encountered. Instead of the boy using girls, its the girl using boys. That along caught my attention and I knew, just knew, that I must must must read this book.

3. Love Story
I love a good romance like the next hopeless romantic and this one is so up my alley. I have a feeling I'll be falling in love with Sam alongside Anna <3

4. Girl and Boy.
Troubled girl meets Good Boy = yessss please.

Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout (Lux #2)
Expected Publication: August 14, 2012
Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarre connection. I’ve sworn him off even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But against all common sense, I’m falling for him. Hard.

Our relationship issues aren’t out biggest problem…

The Department of Defense is here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we’re linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And when a new boy shows up a school with a secret of his own, things get complicated fast. I need to choose between my own instincts and Daemon’s.

But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. Daemon’s never going to stop searching until gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies.

Unchained by J. Lynn (Nephilim Rising #1)
Expected Publication: October 16, 2012
Between the pissed off creatures that want demon-hunter Lily Marks dead and the fallen angel who just… wants her, Lily is about ready to trade in forever for a comfy job in a cubicle farm.

Mortal enemies, the fact that Lily and Julian are civil to one another is enough to have her thrown out of the Sanctuary. Even she can build a laundry list of why getting close to him is career suicide, but she can’t shake her not-so angelic stalker or how he brings her dangerously close to ecstasy.

As if Lily already didn’t have enough problems, the hits just keep coming. Blindsided when a traitor is discovered working from within the Sanctuary, Lily is shocked to find he's determined to get her kicked out. Her relationship with Julian provides the perfect fuel for suspicion, and she quickly finds herself being hunted by well, everyone. Her only hope is to discover the real traitor before she loses everything—and she'll need Julian's help. That is, if Julian is really there to help her … or destroy her.

Yeah, being a Nephilim isn’t everything it’s cracked up to be.

Why I'm Waiting?

The cover and author of both is pretty much self-explanatory. Both are by JLA the difference is just one is YA and one is Adult under a pen name, but everything and anything that JLA writes immediately goes to my TBR, no questions asked. I've already been dying to read Onyx since I read Obsidian a month or so ago. And plus it's Daemon. How can I resist Daemon?! It's just not possible. And Unchained!? Wow, I love the cover so much and more so, it's about Nephilim! I love fallen angels! What more can I freaking ask for, anyway?! And of course, I'm hoping Unchained has some steamy hot sexxxy times because if you've read Tempting the Best Man, JLA writes some amazing sexy scenes that make me need a cold shower x)

What are you waiting on?
Let me know and I swear I'll come stop by :]

Waiting on Wednesday #27

Ceaseless by Abbi Glines (Existence Trilogy#3)
Publication Date: September 18, 2012
From Goodreads:
Can he make her fall in love with him… again?

When Pagan Moore proved worthy of Death’s devotion, he was given the gift of getting to keep her.

But Dank was never promised that Pagan would keep him.

When a soul is created, so is its mate. In every lifetime those souls find each other. They complete the other’s destiny. It’s time for Pagan’s soul to choose if she truly wants an eternity at Death’s side or if she wants the mate created just for her.

Dank didn’t think he had to worry about her choice. He knew where her heart belonged. Until he realized that every kiss, every touch, every moment of their time together would be washed from her memories. He would have to win her heart all over again and prove to her soul that he was where she belonged.

If only her soul’s mate wasn’t right there standing in his way

Why I'm Waiting?

1. It's Abbi Glines!
I love everything and anything Abbi writes, so naturally I'm waiting on any Abbi books. There is probably not enough Abbi books to make me content. I always seem to want and need more more more!

2. This Trilogy.
The Existence trilogy is my favorite of all her series. It's no wonder why I'm waiting (not so patiently) for this book.

3. Pagan's soul mate?
If you've read Predestined (book 2) then you know what I'm talking about. A new but familiar character comes and well, I just knew it wasn't some random appearance. I have to know what is going on!

4. PAGAN'S MEMORIES!?
I totally freaked and did a "WHAAAAAT!?" When Abbi released the summary for this book. I MEAN OMG, Pagan and Dank have gone through so much and ohsweetheaven I will die if she doesn't end up with Dank. FOR REALS. Just when I thought things were going so smoothly after Predestined, Abbi throws a curveball and BOOM. Holy Hell, I need this book.

5. DANK. DEATH. OHMYLANTA, I WANT YOU.
Yes. I've fallen for Death. I don't care. I love him. I love him. I love him and sweet lord, I just want more of him. And he sings and plays guitar and writes his own songs and he's so kind and sweet and thoughtful and gentle and tender. Honestly, how can you not love him?!

I'll stop swooning if you tell me what you're waiting on! ;)
