Opposites don’t attract. They ignite.
The small Montana town near the Kooskia reserve seemed like the perfect place for Juliet Montgomery to hide from her not-so-law-abiding family. But when her peace is shattered by a break-in and threatening phone calls, it’s clear someone back in New York knows where she is. It’s time to plan her getaway, and fast—but first, she needs to tie up a few loose ends. Namely, finding out exactly what the town’s sexy cowboy sheriff is hiding in his holster...
Sheriff Quinn Lodge has enough demons of his own to know when someone’s hiding something. Clearly, he needs to do a thorough investigation to uncover what’s beneath Juliet’s uptight, city-girl exterior—preferably one piece of clothing at a time. But when their chemistry goes from fizzy to full-on explosive, things start getting complicated. How can Juliet stay beneath the covers with Quinn, when doing so means blowing her cover?
My Review
Rebecca Zanetti has done it again! I absolutely love where she is going with the Maverick Montana series. I thought Against the Wall was great, but Under the Covers was amazing, a total step up that blew me away.
It’s rare for me to fall in love with two characters the second they show up on page and that’s exactly what happened with Juliet and Quinn.
Juliet was perfect for Quinn because her fierce and strong attitude was able to handle Quinn’s dominant, bossy, and alpha male persona. She never backed down from him and always gave him a piece of her mind. I liked that Juliet was a mystery, I never quite knew what to expect from her and I loved getting to know her along the way. Juliet was such a good person, who had so much heart and so much care for others around her. Graceful, classy, and sweet, who knew Juliet could be so darn spunky!
I never thought I could love anyone more than Jake, but Quinn was a beast set on devouring my heart. What is up with these Lodge men?! Quinn completely oozed sex and charisma. But I loved that though he could be set on rules and was firm on the law, he was always fair. Quinn was also very family oriented, cared about all of his loved ones and the whole town. He was just a hardworking, dedicated man. Sometimes he was too protective and quite forward, but he always had everyone’s best interest at heart. He knew exactly what he wanted and he was set on getting it; whether it was being reelected as Sheriff or getting Juliet in his bed. I don’t know if I should admit this, but Sheriff’s are super hot and Sheriff Quinn Lodge was a total turn on! Quinn, lets break tables any day!
Under the Cover was even better than it’s companion novel. The stakes were a little higher, the romance a little sexier, and the sex was even hotter. Zanetti ups her game with Quinn and Juliet and she was not afraid to take it all the way. I love how Zanetti builds and develops relationships into something deeper and how she creates wonderful family dynamics. This book definitely had more of a danger aspect with a foreboding feeling that followed me until it struck and I loved the anticipation and the excitement it brought.
Rebecca Zanetti’s writing is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. She really knows how to write heart pounding romance and she gives me all the emotions I look for in a book.
Plenty of love, sex, and wit to go around, Under the Covers is a sure bullseye hit.

“‘Would you like to finally discuss it?
'
‘Your erection?’ The words slipped out before she could think. Oh God. She slapped a hand over her mouth.
He laughed, the sound male and free. ‘Here in the backcountry, ma’am, we prefer the term hard-on. But, yes, let’s discuss the fact that I’m permanently erect around you. Tell me you’re finally ready to do something about it.’”
“I’ve never taken a woman on a ladder before, but the thought does have some possibilities. How flexible are you, darlin’?”
“Be careful, or I’ll make you beg.”
“Darlin’, I could have you coming around my cock in three seconds, and you know it.”
“‘I wish more than anything in the world I could be what you want.’
‘You’re exactly what I want.’”
“I’ll take a little teasing from you, beautiful. But you cross me? I’ll cuff you and make you beg.”
“You might as well relax, baby. You taste like honeysuckle and spices, and I could do this all night.”
I didn't know this was a sequel or companion to Against the Wall. I still need to read that one, but they both sound fab!! Great review!
