Breaking Waves by Danielle Sibarium (Heart Waves #2)
Publication Date: January 10, 2013
Publisher: KFR Communications

Book Description:
From the moment they met, Jenna knew Reece would break her heart, but she never dreamed it would happen like this. Jenna is left shattered and broken. When life becomes too painful to deal with and she feels completely alone, there’s only one person to help her pick up the pieces and move on. The one person she doesn’t want to turn to. The one person she promised to stay away from. Tyler.

Can Jenna put aside everything she knows about him and let Tyler help heal her broken heart?

My Review:
Danielle Sibarium has done it again and swept me off my feet! I have to say that Breaking Waves lived up to everything I wanted it to be. I loved Heart Waves, but I absolutely loved and adored Breaking Waves. It was better, bolder, and packed with intense array of emotions.

I’ve always loved Danielle’s writing. Each book she writes she manages to grip me from the beginning and Breaking Waves was no exception. While Danielle gives us an even more developed character in Jenna, she gave us more with the prominent presence of Tyler. Not only that, Danielle dives deep and evokes many feelings and emotions that really tug at the heart and soul. Danielle added the perfect amount of twists and she does a great job of dancing around what was going on, letting you get a little information to keep you hooked for more. She definitely brings in the heartache, the sadness, the sexy, the funny, and the swoon-worthy moments.

My Playlist

Need - Hana Pestle
"I'm not quite sure how to breathe without you here
I'm not quite sure if I'm ready to say goodbye to all we were

Be with me
Stay with me
Just for now
Let the time decide when I won't need you."

- For Jenna and Reece right at the beginning, when she's not ready to say goodbye just yet.

Without You - My Darkest Days
"If the world ceased to spin,
You could start it again with just one smile
If the seas turn to sand
With the wave of your hand it would rain for miles
But the thought of you gone,
Makes everything wrong in my life
So stay right here, right now."

- Another Jenna and Reece song but after. This can swing both ways for either how Jenna feels or how Reece may feel, but mostly Jenna without Reece.

Wonder - Megan McCauley
"And I can't help but wonder what it is you do
You help heal the pain, and the thoughts of the truth
You're a question to the universe, a wonder to the world
And somehow, when I'm with you, I never get burned."

- This song is for how Jenna feels Tyler. How he's helping her heal and move on and how he's the only one that understands and who can bring her back from the dark.

Near to You - A Fine Frenzy
"Near to you, I am healing
But it's taking so long
'Cause though he's gone
And you are wonderful
It's hard to move on
Yet, I'm better near to you."

- Jenna and Reece vs. Jenna and Tyler. The song basically defines how Jenna is having trouble moving on from Reece, how she's still in so much pain, but having Tyler there helps. She's better near to Tyler even if she still loves Reece.

She is - The Fray
"She is everything I need that I never knew I wanted
She is everything I want that I never knew I needed."

- Tyler to Jenna. Though Tyler brings Jenna back to life, I think Jenna brings out the best in Tyler. She's everything he needs. Especially during the dorm scene

Everything Has Changed - Taylor Swift
"And all I've seen since eighteen hours ago
Is green eyes and freckles and your smile
In the back of my mind making me feel like
--
'Cause all I know is we said "Hello"
And your eyes look like coming home
All I know is a simple name
Everything has changed
All I know is you held the door
You'll be mine and I'll be yours
All I know since yesterday is everything has changed
--
And all my walls stood tall painted blue
And I'll take them down, take them down and open up the door for you"
- For me this song screams Jenna and Tyler down to the mention of green eyes and wanting to get to know each other down to Ed Sheeran's part that could be described as Tyler's walls coming down for Jenna. But basically the title of this song describes so much.. Everything has changed.

And that's my playlist! Let me know what you think? Do you like the songs I picked?

About the Author

Danielle Sibarium grew up as an only child of divorced parents in Brooklyn, New York. Her imagination was developed at an early age. Surrounded by stuffed animals and imaginary friends, she transported herself into a fantasy world full of magic and wonder. Books were the gateway between her play world and reality. On any given summer afternoon she became Snow White sweeping and cooking for the dwarfs, or Cinderella waiting for the prince.

Danielle always loved dialogue and in elementary school began writing plays and short stories. This is when she began to understand she could not only bring her fantastical world to life for herself, but she could enchant others as well. And so she wrote. She wrote and wrote and wrote.

My thoughts, feelings, and reactions

Jenna goes through a tough and devastating time in Breaking Waves. The fear, anguish, and depression she felt was like my own and I really ached for her. Although Jenna was in so much pain, I thought she did a good job of trying to pick herself up even when she felt like she couldn’t move on or when she thought she was losing all hope. I empathized with Jenna greatly and I thought that everyone around her just didn’t understand what she was going through. I hated that some of her friends and her parents kept pushing her to deal with it when these sort of things took time. I liked that Jenna did her own thing and didn’t rush into anything. Jenna was determined to find out what was really going on and that’s where I admired Jenna the most because even with the grief, she still found a way to go beyond that without the pressure of others. I think Jenna really grew, learned, and opened up more in Breaking Waves. She’s slowly evolving into a stronger, more independent, and level-headed woman.

While I do love Reece with my whole entire being, he did not shine in this book the way Tyler did. We are introduced to Tyler briefly at the end of Heart Waves, but don’t get to know him until this book. In Breaking Waves, we get a chance to see a whole different side to this bad boy. Tyler was definitely hard-headed, obnoxious, rude, and sometimes a complete asshole. He had the worst mood swings compared to myself on PMS. But even then, Tyler had this loving, caring, sweet and vulnerable side I fell for. Sure, he had anger issues, but he was so fierce, loyal, and very protective of not only Jenna, but Reece as well. He was slightly broken and misunderstood and really, you just want to give him a hug. Tyler really helps Jenna heal and move past her struggles and for this, my cold heart melted for him instantly. Not only did he make Jenna laugh, but he also made me laugh with all their funny moments and witty comebacks. Tyler messed with my head and my heart. It’s an understatement to say I’m truly conflicted. He was infuriatingly sexy in that I-want-to-hit-him-and-kiss-him-all-at-once kind of way. Reece fans will definitely have to chase after their hearts when they meet Tyler.

I always forget how much I miss certain characters in a book until I get a chance to be back with them and this was how I felt when I read Breaking Waves. It was a mixture of familiarity and newness all wrapped in one book filled with danger, mystery, drama and a whole lot of tension. There is still so much I want to know and figure out and for the life of me, book three cannot come out soon enough. Overall, I freaking loved Breaking Waves! Danielle Sibarium did not disappoint me one bit!

My Review
Jenna Kingsley has a gift. She knows things. With a simple touch she can pick up personal information from jewelry or objects. While at a neighbor’s party, a voice mesmerizes her. Jenna is momentarily frozen as a ring is placed in her hand. White electricity surges through her and a dire prediction is made. “It’s like Romeo and Juliet. You’re going to break my heart.”

From the moment they meet Jenna is enchanted and entranced with Reece Walton. She’s thrilled to learn he’s spending the summer two houses away from hers. Every moment they spend together is magical. But she can’t get the prediction out of her mind. As the summer draws to a close and secrets are revealed, can Jenna get past the fear of being left with a broken heart to live in the moment with Reece or will her fear of being hurt fulfill the prophecy?

Theme Song Thursday (4)

Theme Song Thursday is hosted and created by my favorite: Jena @ Shortie Says where you choose a book you've read or are currently reading and pair it with a song that you think describes the book and why.
This week's book and song for TST is..

This is Love (I am yours)- Annasay

The Lyrics:

You were only 17 when I met you,
underneath the stars outside in summer's heat.
It was just a party for some friends both of us knew
but that night was the start of me falling for you.

Chorus:
Now, this is a love like never before.
Without you, I can't breathe anymore.
You're everything that I adore.
Baby, I'm your's now, your's now.

I remember locking eyes across the room
and thinking to myself I had to talk to you.
By the end of the night
I felt like I'd always known you;
like we were friends for years even though things were new.

Chorus:
Now, this is a love like never before
Without you, I can't breathe anymore.
You're everything that I adore.
Baby, I'm your's now, your's now.

This is a love like never before
Without you, I can't breathe anymore.
You're everything that I adore.
Baby, I'm your's now, your's alone.
Your's alone, your's alone, my love.
Yours alone. Alone. I'm your's alone, my love. (3x)
---
I chose this song for several reasons.

The first verse talks about a boy meeting a 17 year old girl at a friend's party during the summer and how he fell in love with her that night. In Heart Waves, Jenna and Reece meet exactly in this manner. When this song played while I was reading, I just knew that this was their song. Jenna is a 17 year old girl. Her and Reece both attend a party for a friend, Mike, during their summer vacation no less. They meet there and that's where it all started. That night is when they both started to fall for one another. <3

The second verse is all about Reece wanting to talk to Jenna and when he finally finds the courage, he feels this connection. It feels like they've known each other for so long even though they just met. It's perfect.

And he chorus talks about how Jenna and Reece feel for each other in Heart Waves.
It's obvious that they've never felt like this before. Their love is deep and passionate and all consuming. When they're a part, it's hard. They much rather be together. And of course, they're for each other, meant for one another. Their love is like no other; it's absolutely unique.

Sometimes it's hard for me to explain why a song fits a book, but this was just amazing. I felt like this song was made for Jenna and Reece. The lyrics, the melody, the depth of love in the song. It's all there for both of them and if you read this book, you'll understand what I mean.

So what do you think of Heart Waves? And what about the song?
I absolutely love Annasay <3 So I hope you do too.

My thoughts, feelings & reactions
Heart Waves by Danielle Sibarium was such an outstanding book I came to love so much. Right when I started I knew it would be one book I couldn’t possibly part with. It was so compelling until the very end.

Danielle Sibarium’s writing was familiar and refreshing all at once. Her previous book and Heart Waves are different in concept, but the simplistic writing I loved was still there. For me, Heart Waves was a lot more complex when it came to the plot. There was a lot of intrigue, mystery and secrets surrounding the characters that I wanted to uncover and find out. I loved how Danielle Sibarium added in a little flare of paranormal into this contemporary novel. She combined them both perfectly without either one overpowering the other in the story. Jenna’s ability was realistic and completely believable. It was something I could imagine easily. There is still a lot to learn about Jenna’s ability and I’m hoping to find out more in the next book.

Jenna was a simple character with a spunky personality. She’s a very likable character and I had no problem connecting with her at all. She’s level headed and strong and she certainly takes no crap from anyone. I absolutely loved that about her. Sometimes I saw myself in Jenna when she was guarded and cautious. Her weariness of trusting other people also reminded me of myself and the way she carried herself. What I loved most about Jenna was how real she felt. She seemed like someone I could be friends with, someone I could count on the way she was with her best friend Grace. What made Jenna real for me was her flaws. Like everyone, Jenna has fears, doubts and apprehensions especially towards Reece. At times I did get frustrated with Jenna with her constant worry, but I understood why she felt that way and still, I loved her.

I have such a strong feelings of love for Reece. I swear that boy is after my own heart. He’s alluring, flirtatious, sexy and mysterious. He’s slightly cocky and arrogant, but he has immense charm and charisma. He loves books and computers and he’s highly intelligent. Reece exuded plenty of confidence, but he showed shyness and vulnerability when it came to expressing his emotions. I really loved how he never gave up on Jenna and how he continued to gain her trust. I also loved the mystery behind Reece‘s past. Danielle Sibarium doesn’t reveal much, making him a more enticing and complex character. Even through Reece’s sweet side, I felt there was something dark about Reece. I have a feeling that he is hiding something and although this scares me a bit, I found that he made me even more attracted to him.

Jenna and Reece’s relationship developed more quickly than I was comfortable with. However, this did not take away my love for this book. Danielle Sibarium made them work because she allowed Jenna and Reece’s relationship to grow throughout the story despite them being together almost from the beginning. Jenna and Reece had such intense chemistry making them seem like they’ve been together far longer than they have. What I loved about this relationship was the imperfections and the obstacles they faced. Although Jenna and Reece loved each other they struggled with parental disapprovals, trust issues, jealousness, and secrets from their past. They had trouble opening up to one another, coupled with Jenna’s personal doubts and Reece’s unknown past, sometimes they hit a wall. When this happened, I literally felt this ache and fear in my heart for both of them. I love Jenna and Reece and every time they fought, the fear that Jenna felt became my own. Despite their arguments, Jenna and Reece had plenty of sweet moments that made me extremely giddy. I loved their witty banter. They’re very playful and comfortable with each other. I felt how much their love ran deep.

All in all, Danielle Sibarium continues to impress me with her excellent writing, her ability to create such amazing characters and the fact that she can seamlessly draw me into any story she creates. The romance she created between Jenna and Reece was so intoxicating she had me begging for me!

*Thanks to Danielle Sibarium for sending me a copy for review <3

Heart Waves Blog Tour: Character Post

Hello, my lovelies! Today is really special because Danielle Sibarium, author of For Always and her new book Heart Waves, has allowed me to be a part of the Heart Waves Blog Tour! Thanks for much Danielle! It's a real honor to be a part of this tour.

If you don't know, I absolutely loved both of Danielle's books and I'm super excited to have my most favorite character here with me today. If you guessed Reece Walton, you get bonus points ;)

Reece will be talking about how felt when he first met Jenna <3
Prepare to swoon guys.
***

Thank you so much Jessirae for having me as a guest today! It’s very cool here! Okay, I know, you want to hear about when I first met Jenna.

I never believed in love at first sight. Lust maybe, but not love. I wasn't at the party to meet girls or hook up like Jenna accused. I couldn't help but notice her. She was so beautiful. A small crowd gathered around as she'd take a piece of jewelry and tell its owner something about himself. I say himself because the guys were drawn to her like mosquitos to those electric light machines that buzz as it electrifies them to death. That was Jenna, a bright light I couldn't resist that threatened to have deadly consequences. Okay, there was nothing deadly about her, but she did steal my heart.

Spending the summer at my college roomate's house meant I was only two houses away from her. That was it. We were that close. She hated Mike and in return transferred her feelings for him onto me. Not that she hated me. She felt that same draw. I could see it, I could feel it, which never ever happened before. But she fought it all the way. I had to find a way to convince her to take a chance on me. That's where being two houses away gave me an advantage. I looked for her, watched for her. Sure some people might consider it stalking, but that wasn't it at all. I knew she wanted me. I just needed to get her to admit it.

And then I saw her sitting by her pool, alone under the light of the moon. I raced down and quietly snuck up on her. When I see an opportunity I go for it. I wanted to kiss her, needed to taste and feel her sweet lips against my own. I thought I'd lose my mind if she kept pushing me away, because I could see she wanted me too. I've never been the type of guy to kiss and tell, so if you want to know if we kissed, or when we kissed, you're just going to have to read and find out.
***

*sigh* Reece, you are such a tease! Thanks so much for sharing that heartwarming story. I'm sure you'll have all my readers intrigued and swooning over your charm. I know I sure did!

What did you guys think of Reece?
