Monday Current Read #10

It's been awhile since I've done a Monday Current Read, so I decided to do one this week.  I do have to warn you that I'm loaded with upcoming exams, but I've prepared posts for the week so there is no worries ;)

The Fault In Our Stars by John Green

I know! I'm super late reading this, but my TBR pile is endless and my review pile is also seemingly growing a mind of its own. Better late than never, eh?

Well, I've barely started this one. As in, I'm only at the point where I just met Augustus. *sigh* I already love him and he hasn't even uttered a single word yet. So yes, I am loving TFIOS already. It's no brainer since I adore John Green and have read all of his books minus his collabs. He is a freaking genius. I only hope to finish this before exams (which I highly doubt it) but before the weekend for sure. I know that I'll be a wreck after reading this one, so look out for my crazy tweets on Twitter as I read this one. I'll have plenty to say along the way :)

The Book of Blood and Shadow by Robin Wasserman

I'm really cutting it close when it comes to this one. I forgot it releases April 10 and I haven't even started it. I really need to since it archives on the release date. I'll most likely start this in between reading TFIOS. I'm not fond of being forced to read something since it usually turns me off from a book, but it's my own fault for procrastinating my review book list.

Anyway, I've read some mixed reviews about this. Some say it just didn't catch their attention while others though it was a great read. We'll see. I'll give this book the benefit of the doubt. It's got a pretty good rating on Goodreads, an overall 4.02, which is really good to me since people are harsh on GR. Not saying everyone is harsh, but some are just wow. I can't imagine saying such things. Also, I have friends on GR who rated this a 4, so that's definitely good.

I can't wait to start this one since it's got this mystery feel to it that I especially enjoy in a book. Plus, I'm a big fan of murder stories ;)

Monday Current Read #9

Life is But A Dream by Brian James

The writing to this is so beautiful. It's still a little early for me to say much about this book, but I hope it picks up the pace a bit. I can get lost in the writing, but I need the plot to move somewhere. But like I said, I'm only 15% and I never not finish a book no matter what :) However, I do love Sab and Alec <3

Existence by Abbi Glines

I love Abbi Glines to no extent. I read The Vincent Boys and loved that book so hard. I own all her books in ebook format. I started Existence. I'm more than half way in already and I. AM. IN. LOVE. WITH. DANK. He is just so hot and yummy and sexy and dark. You guys so need to read this. *sigh*

Monday Current Read #8

This week I'll be reading

Starters by Lissa Price

I haven't started this one yet as I'm still finishing Clockwork Prince since last week gave me no time to read at all. However, I'm really interested in this book so I can't wait to start it. The cover freaks me out just a tad bit, but it's also mesmerizing too. I hope that I'll love this book enough so I can get a final copy because I think the cover will look really nice on my shelf. I only have a copy through Netgalley, but at least I can properly use my Kindle Fire!

Monday Current Read #7

I'm currently reading two books again this week:

In His Eyes Anthology (Stories from a Cute Guy)

I've started this already and just finished the first Short Story. It was so so cute. I adored it very much. I cannot wait to dive into the other stories. I just know I'm going to swoon and aw at all the book boys.<3

Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare (The Infernal Devices #2)
It's a shame that I have not read this already. To be honest, I haven't even opened it yet. I plan on starting today, for sure. I'm excited to step back into the Shadow World. I adore Tessa and I'm still on the fence between Will and Jem. It's like a tug of war. When I'm reading a part about Will, I like him more. Then I read a part about Jem and I like him more. It's very frustrating that I cannot choose when I always pick a Team (i.e. Peeta, Ren, Jack, Tucker, Vincent, etc). See what I mean? I have never been so conflicted! Anyway, I'm going to try to eat this book up so I can have a review up lickety split! lol

If you've read CP, whose Team are you on? Will or Jem? Did you change teams after reading Clockwork Angel? Or did you stick with one? Maybe you're super conflicted like me!? Let me know :) I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Monday Current Read #6

I'm currently reading two books this week:

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
I was actually 3 chapters into this, but I had to stop because of school and  OTBS (see below). I plan on reading more after I get through an exam and reading OTBS for review.

I already love DOSAB. I love Karou and I love how fierce she is. The book is very funny. It's quite embarrassing trying not to laugh when you are at school reading this. lol. It made me sad that I had to stop reading, but I'll be very very happy to pick this one up again. I think I'm going to reread the 3 chapters and relive the funny moments all over again! I know this is going to be a good one.

On the Bright Side by S.R. Johannes
I'm more than half way into this already and I absolutely love it. It's loads of fun and it really makes me smile. Gabby is so cute. I think a  lot of people will love this book, because I sure do.

 If you didn't see my IMM post yesterday, I got this ebook for review from Shelli<3  This book is one of the reasons I had to stop reading DOSAB. I was supposed to read this in Feb, but since it comes out on the 31st of this month, I really wanted to read and review it by then. Look for my review on the 31st with a teaser ok? :D

UPDATE: I finished this book very early Sunday Morning and absolutely adored it! Watch out for my review on the 31st with a Kindle or Nook ebook giveaway!

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin (Mara Dyer #1)

I'm about halfway into the book and I'm loving it so far. It's a little confusing and mysterious but that's what gives it so much appeal. I love Mara. She's so loud and vivid. Noah is so aggravating, but completely charming and to die for! I can't wait to read more!

My current read this week is..

Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

I'm reading this from an ARC won from @EpicReads

I always have a hard time getting sucked into a dystopian. It takes awhile for me to really visualize the world. It's the same for this book, but it didn't take long before I was lost :] I've been reading reviews and many believe it fits more in the sci-fi category. I honestly don't care if it's sci-fi or dystopian. It's a great book so far. I love Aria and Perry. But so far my favorite is Roar <3 I'm still getting to know the world Aria and Perry live in as I read and it's really cool. I'm nearly half way done. I want to finish before Veronica Rossi comes to San Diego for a book signed at Mysterious Galaxy on the 13th.

Be sure to pick this book up when it comes out! It's a good one!

Monday Current Read #2

My Monday current read is......... *drum roll*

The Scorch Trials by James Dashner. It's the second book in The Maze Runner trilogy. This will also be the second time I'll be reading this book. Only this time, I will have a written review after I finish it. I'm only a little over 30 pages in. I remember much more about the first book than this one, although I both read them back to back a year ago. The pacing is a little different with this book, but the beginning is much more exciting. 

I don't want to say much about this book because it'll be too spoilery for readers who have not read The Maze Runner. However, my review will contain spoilers from the first book as it is unavoidable. No worries though because I'll warn you beforehand.

Now for an awesome line from the book:

"What's going on?" xxx asked, looking back and forth between xxx and xxx. "Why're you guys looking at each other like you just fell in love?" 

The x's stand for 3 different people that I decided not to mention as it is too spoilery!

Monday Current Read #1

Happy Monday everyone! Because it's the first day of the week, I thought I should post up my current read every Monday, starting today*. I'll tell you what I'm reading at this very moment, what it's about and how I'm enjoying it so far (or not).

I am currently reading The Maze Runner by James Dashner.

This is actually the second time I've read this book. I plan on reading all three books in the trilogy straight through with reviews for each book. That way, when I finally read the last book: The Death Cure, my mind has been refreshed from the long awaited year.

In The Maze Runner, Thomas wakes up in a darkened elevator type of machinery. He has no recollection of his past life besides his own name and he has no idea where the elevator is taking him up to. When he finally reaches the top and the doors open, he is surrounded by a bunch of other kids. Some younger and some older than him. The kids call themselves the Gladers who live in what they call The Glade. They are surrounded by an unsolvable, ever-changing Maze with scary, slimy beasts on the rampage.
The Gladers expected Thomas to come but they did not expect the chain of events that occur after his arrival. The Gladers can't help but think Thomas' arrival was no coincidence to these events. And Thomas can't help feeling like he has answers to their freedom, if only he can access his memories. Nevertheless, The Gladers, including Thomas, are very much determined to solve the Maze so they can finally go home. If a home for them even exists.

Although I know exactly what happens at the end of this book, I'm still enjoying the reread. It's been awhile since I've visited these characters and it's nice to get back into their world. The main character in this book is most definitely Thomas. I like Thomas. He has a strong voice, but my favorite character is a fellow Glader: Minho. He's very smart, funny, quirky and pretty much badass. What I like most about this book is the fact that we don't know much about the Gladers because they themselves don't either. There is that air of mystery and suspense that I love. Even with how and why the Gladers are even in the Glade to begin with. I've always questioned why are they there? and why them? What is so special about these kids to have them be put into such undesirable, unpleasant circumstances?
Also, I must say that this book was an easy read then and it still is now. Probably more so. I'm almost half-way through the book already. James Dashner hasn't failed to suck me into the story a second time.
I'm hoping to finish this book tomorrow, if time permits.
