My Brazen Addiction: the one with Duchess and Florence

Asking for Trouble by Tessa Bailey (Line of Duty #4)
Publication Date: November 25, 2013

The fighting was just foreplay...

Brent Mason and Hayden Winstead can't stand each other. She plans exclusive parties for her rich familys charities. He's a rough and tumble cop who rigs explosives for a living. Could two people be any less suited for conversation? They think not and prefer to keep it that way.

Unfortunately, their two best friends are deeply, disgustingly in love. Forced together, the mutual attraction simmering beneath the surface of Brent and Hayden's non-relationship grows with every argument until it explodes into a scintillating night of mind-blowing sex. And it wont be the last, as far as Brent's concerned.

Hayden has a secret, though. Her father's company is relying on a merger to save them from financial ruin, and only Hayden's marriage to the CEOs wealthy son can secure the deal. If she's to protect her family, she'll have to forget Brent. And he has no intention of being forgotten.

Oh my sweet Florence and Duchess!!

Asking for Trouble by Tessa Bailey was...asdfghjkl !! I can’t even. It was so effing good. Like I just took a bite out of the best chocolate bar I ever had the pleasure of biting into and then experiencing a foodgasm that rocked my world, the universe, and the stars shortly thereafter. Tessa Bailey just never fails to leave me thinking: damn, that was fucking amazing!

I have the biggest most softest soft spot for Brent since I met him in Officer of Limits. He totally had me rolling on the floor laughing from his jokes. It wasn’t any different in this book. In fact, he had me smitten for his goofball side and his sexy dirty talkin’ big woohoo in bed side. Because holy sweet mother of pearl, I was feeling tingles with Brent and not the my foot fell asleep tingles either if you know what I mean. Anyway, I loved Brent so much because he had those sides to him, but he also had this honorable, respectable, protector and provider side of him as well. He wasn’t just this big bad cop or a smug, cocky guy. He was just this sweetest thing. He was like a big fluffy teddy bear I wanted to wrap my whole body around. He loved his family, he was a great friend, he worked so so hard, and he was happy and he didn’t complain. He was just so freaking wonderful.

"Be warned, though. If you take away the use of my hands I'll only make up for it with my mouth."

"If you have any doubt about my ability to fuck the ever-loving sarcasm right out of you, I'll be more than happy to clear it up."

Hayden was the perfect match for Brent. I adored Hayden because she wasn’t afraid to dish back the shit that Brent gave her. She was confident and strong and caring and selfless. She was just as funny as Brent. I freaking loved that they argued, teased, and made fun of one another. They acted like they hated each other, but it was so obvious that there was some underlying sexual tension ready to burst out. Like a rated R version of a boy pulling a girl’s pigtails because he totes liked her.

"You are an enormous dick."
"Correction. I have an enormous-" She hung up.

The thing I loved most about Brent and Hayden being together was how they slowly saw how different they were. As they explored their sexual relationship, they got to know one another on a deeper level and their preconceived notions about each other were challenged. Brent thought he was beneath Hayden and that he didn’t belong in her world while Hayden thought Brent would only see her as a spoiled rich girl. These things were totally changed and though there was drama and angst and fights, I loved every single second of these two so so so much!

"Don't let the door hit you on your well-spanked ass on the way out."
"Your concern is touching, sweetheart. Miss you already."

On my bedroom scale from
 (1) COLD: I’m just not feeling it to (5) HOT: I need a fan...

Asking for Trouble by Tessa Bailey was a freaking five: burning hot! I need a fan and some ice water and where in world is my boyfriend?! Tessa does not fail to bring the sexy and I mean triple x sexxxy. Holy banana cream pie were these sexy times smokin’! The best thing was how the power was balanced and thrown back between Brent and Hayden. Hayden would be in charge in bed (which was awesome) and then Brent would dominate (even more awesome) and my goddddd, help me I was dying. It was sensual and provocative and downright panty melting orgasmic worthy. I just neeeeeeed more.

"I'm never soft around you, duchess."

The brazenly addicted verdict...

Tessa Bailey has done it again! Each book she comes out with just gets better and better. Asking for Trouble completely swept me off my feet, made my face hurt from the laughing and I’m pretty sure I nearly broke the highlight thingy majig on my Kindle because of all the quotes I wanted to save forever and ever. This book was the whole package and most definitely my favorite enemy to lovers trope ever.

P.S. Brent Mason you belong in my bed 24/7.

"I guess you haven't figured it out yet, huh? This week alone I let you cuff me, stuff me into a suit, and inflict me with Blue-Ball Syndrome."

Overall rating: 5 stars for Brent babyyyyyy

His need to possess her is non-negotiable.

Story Brooks’ fiancĂ© just called off their wedding two weeks before the happy day. As if that isn't bad enough, her semi-estranged father, an infamous NYPD hostage negotiator, has suffered a heart attack. Not wanting to examine her lack of emotion over the broken engagement, she hops on a plane to reconnect with her father before it’s too late.

Playboy hostage negotiator Daniel Chase has never, not once, been refused by a woman, so when a debate over hospital snack foods with a delectable kindergarten teacher ends in flat-out rejection, he makes it his mission to seduce her. His only obstacle? She’s the daughter of his mentor who implicitly forbade Daniel from pursuing her.

Despite her father’s warnings and Daniel’s troubled past, Daniel and Story can’t resist their intense attraction to one another. But when the reason for her fiancĂ©’s abrupt wedding cancellation comes to light, can Story and Daniel's already forbidden relationship survive?

My Review
Sweet heaven and hell, Tessa Bailey just never ceases to amaze and completely blow me away with every book she writes. Just when I think the last couldn’t get any better than this, she goes and creates Officer Off Limits that pushes the rest away and stands at the top.

What I love most about Tessa’s writing is her ability to create characters that I always end up loving and caring for as if I knew them. I get so caught up in their story I lose myself in it each and every time and I love that. I get attached and I form a deep connection that I would never trade a single thing for. That’s how amazing Tessa is and I have already come to the realization that I will never get tired of reading her books.

It is a total understatement to say that I adore Story! Though I scoff at her dislike her for seafood, I freaking want to hug her because she was from San Diego, she was a sweet kindergarten teacher who loved chocolate. The woman nearly drowned when she was younger and she thought it was an adventure! Clearly, Story was a girl after my own heart. Story had the best bold and wittiest comebacks ever. Story was all sassy and full of ‘give ‘em hell’ kind of attitude, I really could not love her enough.  I was really cheering her on through the whole book because she totally found herself and her flare. She was brave for risking her life and her heart.

Daniel Daniel Daniel. He’s the best hero from the force Tessa has created thus far! Why? Because at first glance, at first impression, Daniel seemed like a playboy, a man who can never keep it in his pants and doesn’t do one woman relationships. Dive deeper and you’ll see a man who is slightly damaged, haunted from a messed up upbringing, but became someone who has made something of himself. He totally respected and looked up to Story’s dad and totally put a number on Story’s feelings. The man oozed smooth, charm and charisma; a true ladies man for sure. I didn’t know whether to roll my eyes at his pick up lines or swoon on the spot. I just knew he could walk the walk, talk the talk and deliver

I totally fell so fast, like crazy in love fast with Officer Off Limits. There was so much entertainment in this book, it was a seriously a fun ride! Not only was Story and Daniel hilarious, but the secondary characters, Brent and Matt, were laugh out loud funny. It should be a crime to be allowed to consume any beverage while in the presence of Brent. There was nothing more truer than the statement of laughing my head off while reading this book; that’s how great it was. When Daniel and Story were together, they just burned bright. Their steamy scenes were scorching and their encounters with one another were push and pull and always had me longing for more. And ultimately, this book had the best lines, ever:

“I was done the second I saw you. Done."

"Oh Matt, I love it when you talk safety"

"Dispatch, please alert medical personal that officer is whipped."

"You like blueberry pancakes? I love blueberry pancakes!"

"He’d been cast into permanent boner-oblivion for the rest of the night.”

“Who am I kidding? When I finally get inside of you, I’m going to fuck you until your voice is hoarse from screaming my name.”

“‘You know, I could have sworn you were going to pick the trail mix.’

‘Oh, yeah? Why is that?’

‘Because you’re both full of shit.’”

Overall Officer Off Limits had depth, humor, and excitement along with the sexiest romance ever.
It’s the best of Tessa Bailey yet

Review
I knew it! I absolutely knew that Tessa Bailey could blow me away again with her new book, His Risk to Take! It’s a short and quick read, but has solidified the fact that Bailey has become a favorite of mine! His Risk to Take is yummy, dangerous and straight up over 100 degrees celsius HOT.

I have one question for Troy and that’s, can I be his risk to take? Because dear god, there is nothing hotter than a dirty talkin‘ sex machine Detective like Troy Bennett!
You would have never thought twice because Troy came off as quiet and reserved, but get him in the bedroom and clothes start flying. Troy’s a man who is so manly he’ll melt your panties off with one look. Troy was the type of man to make you want to be in his jeans as soon as humanly possible. Not only that, Troy’s dominating, protective and oh so loving, Ruby wasn’t the only one falling. I want one, please and thank you

Author Interview

Tessa Bailey
Author of PROTECTING WHAT’S HIS
and HIS RISK TO TAKE
From Brazen Books at Entangled Publishing

Can you describe His Risk to Take in one sentence?
Tortured cop meets rebellious pool hustler and a battle of wills ensues.

Why a novella this time around?
I didn’t have another full-length Line of Duty novel scheduled until July. My editor, Heather, thought since I had such great momentum going from Protecting What’s His, that I should try and put something out before then. I didn’t have time for another full-length on short notice, but I had this story about a female pool hustler in the back of my mind. So this was the perfect opportunity to write it!

What makes your main characters a strong hero/heroine?
In almost every case, my characters’ past is what makes them strong. Whether their upbringing or a tragic event that changed their lives. Something that shaped them into who they are. Or forced them to build a wall around their emotions.

I love Derek Tyler from Protecting What’s His. Who is your favorite character to write and why?
I think a lot of writers would say whoever they’re currently writing is their favorite. That seems to be the case with me, at least! I’m currently writing a hero named Brent that is bringing out my frat boy sense of humor. I’m in love with him – he’s a big, giant goofball with a heart of gold.

Where do you get your inspiration to write? Other books, music, etc?
Music does inspire me a lot. I love songs about difficult women. There is this band I love called Frightened Rabbit. They sing from the point of view of breaking up with someone, instead of being the one who got dumped, like most songs. This song called “Good Arms vs. Bad Arms” is one of my favorites.

If you couldn’t be a writer what would you be/do and why?
Well, I work part time for my family construction company, so I would probably just be doing that. LOL. But if I could be anything in the world besides a writer, I’d be a photographer. I love snapping shots of interactions between people – like at weddings, birthday parties, etc.

What else do you have planned for in the future? More Line of Duty books?
YES. I’ve got one coming sooner than you think (rubs hands together). Officer Off-Limits might be coming much sooner than expected, actually. It’s Daniel’s story – you met him in His Risk to Take. He’s a playboy hostage negotiator who falls hard for his mentor’s daughter, a kindergarten teacher named Story.

Quick Fire:
5 words you’d give as advice for aspiring writers/authors: Persistence, originality, passion, discipline, coffee

4 book characters you’d take out for dinner: Derek Tyler (wink), Jericho Barrons, Nix the Everknowing and…Gideon Cross (swoon)

3 things you need at all times: iPhone and a notebook

2 things about you no one else knows: Little old men dressed in their Sunday best make me weepy. I’ve never seen Star Wars start to finish.

1 book you would recommend no matter what: Seduction and Snacks by Tara Sivec

About the Author
Tessa lives in Brooklyn, New York with her husband and young daughter. When she isn't writing or reading romance, Tessa enjoys a good argument and thirty-minute recipes.

I freaking loved Ruby! She was fire and ice and everything nice. The fact that she can play pool better than any guy I know and can talk right back to a man without hesitation is what I call a kick ass, fierce as hell chick. I wanted to embody her, not just to get in Troy’s pants mind you, but to have the confidence and recklessness she carried with her. Ruby was a survivor and even though she could get herself into some sketchy stuff, she has her own back and can handle herself. I not only loved her snark, but her whole straightforward attitude as well.

I am at Tessa Bailey’s mercy, because wow, she has some serious totally impressive talent for writing passionate, intense, and lusty love romance like no other. This book is just sexy romance at its finest and one I call pure excellence. What’s even better is that she mixes in this explosive seduction with hustling, gambling and suspenseful danger that had me bouncing on my toes with excitement. I want to live in Bailey’s mind because daaaamn, I can’t get enough of her writing, ever.

This book may be short, but it’s packed with lip licking sex scenes, endless wit and intense drama to entice just about everyone!
